Indiana Tech CARES/HEERF Funding: Information and Application Form


The Indiana Tech CARES/HEERF Fund was created in response to the Federal Government’s Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. This was expanded with the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA). The CRRSAA allocated additional funding for the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF), which had provided CARES Act payments to students over the past year.   This year the American Rescue Plan (ARP) was passed which provided more relief to students with some eligibility tweaks.  This funding is to be made available directly to students as emergency grants for any component of a student’s cost of attendance or emergency costs that arise due to temporary hardships related to the COVID-19 crisis such as tuition, food, housing, health care, mental health care or child care.  This has allowed us to once again award students HEERF funding via application.

Emergencies relating to COVID19 could include (but are not limited to):

  • Increased technology expenses due to change of coursework being provided online
  • Change in housing arrangement expense / additional rent expenses including having to break a lease
  • Increased medical expenses of a supporting family member or yourself
  • Increase in other expenses due to the economic disruptions from COVID-19

Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicant must be a currently enrolled, or recently graduated student in good academic standing.
  • The student must be a US citizen, DACA, or undocumented student.

This funding is for students experiencing a temporary financial hardship resulting from disruptions from COVID-19 and resulting implications.

Application Procedure

Once this form is completed and submitted, it will be reviewed by a committee comprised of Indiana Tech faculty and staff. Our goal is to notify you with a decision within one week of submission.

Funds will be refunded directly to you through your BankMobile account. If you have set up direct deposit through BankMobile, the funds will be deposited into your bank account. Please note that these funds are limited and this application will be closed once funds have been exhausted.  We are currently awaiting on additional funding from the Federal government before we can continue funding.  Your application will be reviewed once the additional funds are received.
