Indiana Tech CARES Funding: Information and Application Form
The Indiana Tech CARES Fund was created in response to the Federal Government’s Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. This aid is for limited, short-term, financial assistance when students are unable to meet immediate, essential expenses because of temporary hardships related to the COVID-19 crisis.
Emergencies relating to COVID19 could include (but are not limited to):
- Increased technology expenses due to change of coursework being provided online
- Change in housing arrangement expense / additional rent expenses including having to break a lease
- Increased medical expenses of a supporting family member or yourself
- Increase in other expenses due to the economic disruptions from COVID-19
For traditional undergraduate students, the university has also completed refunds for room and board. All students who were living on campus and moved out when classes went online have received cash refunds for their housing fees and dining plans based on their move-out date.
Applicant must have been a currently enrolled student at Indiana Tech (Day Division or CPS on-ground student) as of March 13, 2020. This includes students who were enrolled in CPS Undergraduate Session 6, Graduate Session 5 or 6, or CPS 8-Week Graduate Session 4. The student must be a US citizen or eligible non-citizen for financial aid purposes. Online students are not eligible for this funding.
This funding is only for students experiencing a temporary financial hardship resulting from disruptions from COVID-19 and resulting implications. Applicants may be asked to provide documentation based on their unique situation. Please note that employees and those receiving a staff scholarship are ineligible for this grant.
Once this form is completed and submitted, it will be reviewed by a committee comprised of Indiana Tech faculty and staff. Our goal is to notify you with a decision within one week of submission.
Funds will be refunded directly to you through your Bank Mobile account. If you have set up direct deposit through Bank Mobile, the funds will be deposited into your bank account. If you are denied funding and have additional questions, please contact Scott Thum, Director of Student Financial Services, at SWThum@indianatech.edu.
